Sam Groove is one technologically inclined cat. The 25-year-old DJ wields a laptop, iMac, Pioneer DJM-400 mixer, and various MIDI controllers, amps, and more than 10,000 MP3s at his disposal. When he steps up to the stage at Club Red, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe, during Red Light Disco on Friday, October 7, however, all he'll need is two turntables and a couple crates of records. Groove and DJ Louder will be "showcasing" an exclusive set of vinyl breaks during the two-room dance party, and plan on mixing and scratching on the fly. Meanwhile, DJ Soloman will present a two-hour set, Brook B. will spin techno tracks, and Schwasted will rock a two-person electro extravaganza. A separate "Bass Room" hosted by the Deviltry Dolls will feature sessions from At Dawn We Rage, Robotech, Beastman, and Crit. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 before 10 p.m., $15 thereafter.
