In a time where abbreviations are in vogue and children have to explain acronyms to their parents, it’s hard to take shortened phrases seriously. At the first utter of an “L” followed by an “O” our faces twist into a cringe. But then there are those acronyms that make a name that much more important; think NASA, HBO, and BYOB.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is one of those important places that deserves a cool abbreviation. On Friday, October 28, the SMoCA celebrates its fall season kickoff with four new exhibits and the opening of its SMoCA Lounge.
