Right-wing Bible thumpers? So much for open-mindedness. One can be liberal and Christian, liberal or Christian or (gasp!) both. I happen to be a politically-independent, born-again Christian with multiple diagnosed autoimmune diseases. The daily pain I live with can be untenable, particularly during flare-ups, and my body cannot handle conventional pain medication or drugs designed to reduce to reduce inflammation. The former make me, well, puke, and the latter drop my white blood count to dangerous levels. Those that suppress the immune system further increase my risk of lymphoma. I cannot afford to lose the pounds prescription medications shave from me, either. So I suffer. Pain. Every single day. Though I did not thump it, I did just finish reading a bit of my Bible this morning, before checking in with New Times for an update on Arizona's latest medical marijuana law. If that surprises or confounds you, consider expanding your mind a tad. Prejudice is wrong. In any form. Always.
