Raw Hamburger

Aggressively off timing, persistent throat clearing, alternating brutal and non sequitur punch lines drawling from a frowning mouth. With combed-over greasy hair atop a sweaty, contorted face, Gregg Turkington’s anti-comedy alter ego Neil Hamburger asks the important questions; like “Why did god give Smash Mouth three top ten hits?” and “Why did Madonna feed her baby dog food?”

America’s Funnyman has the uncomfortable answers, so offensive (imagine gags hinging on drug over doses, rape, and assorted meanness that could make Kathy Griffin flinch) and unexpected that his audiences are often shocked into laughter. It’s a brand of question-and-answer comedy that, put simply, isn’t for everyone.

They won’t all be zingers when he performs at Crescent Ballroom. But that’s his life. And it’s all in a day’s work for Neil Hamburger. *major entertainer* Mike H opens the show.
