Considering how Arizona Curriculum Theater seriously creeps us out every October with Poefest, they should be able to warm and cheer us with Yuletide, a presentation of early holiday music by the Bartholomew Faire combo along with readings by Jason Barth, Danette D'Anjou, and James David Porter of old poems and tales from Irish, Welsh, and Germanic traditions.

Back when good Christianity meant dancing like a demon and bangin' a drum like a rock 'n' roll druid, Yule was a tenuous mashup of good old pagan traditions and some radical new stuff about a virgin and redemption, a.k.a. a jolly, hopeful way to get through those wicked Northern European winters. The show, which runs at Soul Invictus through Friday, December 23, returns us to those simpler times when we were legally mandated to party until all the ale was gone.
