Towards Thee Infinite Beat @ The Rogue Bar

Pandrogynous industrial icon and Psychic TV frontma . . . uh, frontperson Genesis P-Orridge hasn't had the warmest of receptions in the Valley. In 2007, the British-born transgender artist — who founded landmark act Throbbing Gristle and helped influence early industrial and other nascent EDM genres — was scheduled to perform with Psychic TV at the old Anderson's Fifth Estate before the owner pulled the plug. The gig went down at the Rogue Bar, 423 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, however, in front of two dozen eager fans. This weekend, the Rogue again will be filled with P-Orridge's cacophony as Hang the DJ's Richie Gimbel (a.k.a. Restless Legs) presents Towards Thee Infinite Beat on Sunday, December 18. Though P-Orridge won't be appearing at the event, s/he will be there in spirit as Gimbel and J. Aurelius spin remixes and rare cuts from Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, and other projects the artist was involved in. "Her arms reach so far: acid house, techno, industrial, noise, [and] punk, to an extent," Gimbel says. "I can't think of too many genres that are close to my heart that haven't been influenced sonically and aesthetically by the work of Genesis." The high-tech shamanism starts at 9 p.m. Admission is $3 after 10 p.m. Call 480-947-3580.
