Through all of the drama produced by the NBA’s lockout -- players bolting to play abroad, ultimatums issued by NBA commissioner David Stern, and all the criticisms levied against both sides -- we couldn’t help but wonder what it would mean if this season were lost. It seemed possible that we may have, without realizing it, seen Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash take the court for the last time. Instead, the season has been salvaged and Nash’s (admittedly fading) chance of winning a championship lives. The Suns will be fielding basically the same team -- minus guards Vince Carter and Aaron Brooks, plus guards Shannon Brown and Sebastian Telfair -- so they’ll have to hope that Nash can still carry them on his 37-year-old back.

Nash will take the first step towards what may be his last run at a title on Monday, December 26, when the Suns host the New Orleans Hornets for their season opener.
