'Tis the season for counterfeit Coachella posters, as the three-day tastemaking mega-festival quickly approaches and music fans invent dream lineups or needle the event in snarky fashion. One of the funnier Fauxchella fliers on the Interwebs (other than the one with nothing but fictional bands) is a satirically ironic lineup that reeks of cynicism and features descriptions of stereotypical artists you'd see each year, including "A-K In Steve Aoki's Phone Contacts" on the first day, followed by K-Z on the second. As jaded (and hilarious) as this barb might be, it's also a dead-on illustration of Aoki's connection to popular music. The dude's spent the past 15 years working with performers from not only the EDM scene, but also the pop, rock, hip-hop, and indie genres. That includes the DJs and electronica-inspired artists on his vanity project Dim Mak Records, a few of which will accompany him on the label's annual Deadmeat Tour. This year's support offers support from French electro creators Dirtyphonics and frequent collaborator Datsik. Locals like Jared Alan, Riot Earp, and La Sape will also get a chance to share the stage with Aoki when the tour hits Comerica Theatre, 400 West Washington Street.
