Roving Guy

On February's First Friday, Miguel Palma was busy navigating a 300-pound rover through one of the empty lots along Roosevelt Row. The Portuguese artist is in town working with Desert Initiatives, an arts and desert exploration partnership at ASU. Palma says he's been interested in desert landscapes, natural environments, and man's interaction with machines for as long as he can remember -- and that if you combine the three, you get "Exposure," his current exhibition at Regular Gallery.

More About

The free show is a taste of what Palma will be exploring and producing during his time in Phoenix. In collaboration with ASU’s School of Earth and Space Exploration (SESE) and other community partners, he'll convert a military vehicle and capture photographs and video of the remote desert landscape, which he'll later project onto city walls.
