Shore Shot

The rise, fall, and comeback of Pauly Shore has included kicking it with Playboy bunnies, his own death (via self-produced mockumentary), and a short stint on reality TV. The only constant in his varied career has been the stand-up stage, The Weasel’s natural habitat, where Shore will be this weekend.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Encino Man unleashed Pauly Shore into the national consciousness. And while freeloading character Weas' might be the comedic equivalent of nails on a chalkboard, that mook-with-a-heart-of-gold prototype is a blueprint for present-day Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell comedies featuring oddly endearing idiotic man-children. Shore's more than mugging and dudespeak, though. He’s been honing his live act since getting his start at Hollywood’s world-famous Comedy Store.
