Curling has come quite a long way since its humble beginnings as a passtime on the frozen ponds and lakes of Scotland in the 16th century. Recognized as an Olympic sport in 1998, the sport of shuffling that granite stone toward its target has been dominated by Canada. The maple leaf will be represented well amongst a field of competitors that will include curlers from far-flung places such as Minnesota and Switzerland.
