“See the music, hear the dance,” renowned choreographer George Balanchine once said. The co-founder and ballet master of the New York City Ballet was big into music (also marrying ballerinas -- he wed a total of five), and he extensively collaborated with composer Igor Stravinsky.

So it’s no coincidence that two-thirds of the late Russian ex-pat’s dances included in Ballet Arizona’s production All Balanchine are set to Stravinsky. Staged as the company’s season finale by director Ib Andersen, who studied under Balanchine in the early 1980s, the show collects the ballets "Episodes" (in its Arizona debut), "Stravinsky Violin Concerto," and "Rubies" for a weekend of performances.
