Script-Wrecked

If you're of the opinion that reality TV is nothing but garbage that's poisoning the already-rotting minds of lazy couch potatoes, then it's likely you'll find yourself understanding at least one of the (many) characters in Jess Walters' novel Beautiful Ruins. (It's also likely we can't be friends. Oh wellz.) The novel's storyline time travels between early '60s Italy and present-day Hollywood, where it finds script reader Claire entrenched in pitches for drivel about sexy drunk people. Weaving together storylines of actor Richard Burton, an ill starlet, unenthused movie execs, and more, the novel transports the reader to and through their experiences. Its success has also inspired Walters to travel the country with the book in tow.

Make yourself a part of that narrative on Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m. when Walters will discuss and sign the book at Changing Hands.
