Not only has the bespectacled pipsqueak known as Skrillex inspired countless bad haircuts on the melons of teenyboppers everywhere, he’s also fueled the recent rebirth of interest in electronica nationwide. Practically everyone’s twitterpated with beats and bloops these days, and raves, dance parties, and other EDM events are in overabundance, even springing up in the unlikeliest of places.

To wit: DIY bike collective Rusty Spoke, 1023 Grand Avenue, will be the site of an all-night electronica affair dubbed the Day Glo Derailleur on Saturday, September 15. For all intents and purposes, it sounds like a tongue-in-cheek throwback to the ‘90s heyday of rave culture as the event will feature Glochids (a.k.a. James Roemer) and Clusterfuck blowing out the speakers with “dirty beats from the golden age of techno.” Cheeky games like the Candy Necklace Ring Toss and Big Pants Obstacle Course will transpire, as well as a costume contest with such categories as Best Use of Candy Jewelry.
