It doesn’t matter who you are or what you drive, at some point you’ve entertained the possibility of drag racing. When you pull up next to a souped-up sports car at a stop light, you like to imagine -- if only for a second -- that your ’95 LeSabre totally could outrun it if you played your cards right. Of course you didn’t go through with it, because that would be crazy.

We’re hoping to see at least a couple of crazy people at Friday night’s Run What Ya Brung drag race at Firebird International Raceway, 20000 South Maricopa Road. Twenty bucks buys any would-be drag racers entry to the event; $10 is the cover for spectators. We’re sure the event will be full of souped-up cars, but we’re hoping that the low entry fee will coax at least one beat-up Buick onto the track.
