Single Serving

Once a Marine, always a Marine ®C or so the saying goes. You can see it in the demeanor of anyone who has served. There's the hard attitude, the post-service high-and-tight, the blatant self-confidence. Once the motto “Semper Fidelis” finds its way into the psyche, some of its adherents have a tough time letting it go and adjusting to normal, everyday civilian life when their service ends. Setting aside the horrors of war and its deleterious side effects, the military branch is known for its pride, humor, strength, and lack of emotion.

Class 6 Theatre's production ReEntry uses those themes in a real way. Some might argue that it's the rawest way. The documentary play uses actual interviews with Marines past and present (and the people who love them) to show respect for those who serve, with a focus on locations like Walter Reed Medical Center, Parris Island Recruit Depot, and the Combat Stress Awareness Conference in San Diego. It sheds light on the terror of war, but also the humanity of those who encounter it.
