Since 2009, the locally-based Filmstock Film Festival has celebrated the art of the short film. While the fest has expanded its palette to include filmmakers from all over, Arizona-based productions are still in the spotlight. Chief among them: Paint Life Beautiful, Brandon Branard and Mark Susan’s 2012 documentary that traces the life of artist and B-boy Joseph “Sentrock” Perez from his formative years in West Phoenix through his last summer in the valley before leaving to attend art school in Chicago.
