As with department store commercials (especially that "Light the Lights" one -- shoot us now), sometimes the promise that you've never seen a play before is sufficient. Add the fact that it's presented by Stray Cat Theatre, one of the Valley's perennial champions of the new, weird, and sexy, and putting that joint on your sked becomes a no-brainer.

Steve Yockey's Wolves blew through town last year in a staged reading that helped Yockey develop the newborn script. (Stray Cat's also produced his trippily romantic Octopus.) Now the show's in a "rolling world première" at similarly funky troupes nationwide, including Actor's Express in Atlanta. The story of broken-up-but-too-poor-not-to-live-together couple Ben and Jack shows what can happen when a new person enters the pathology of a long, stressed relationship. The dark comedy contains elements of fable and fairytale, including a convenient ax.
