At any point in the next 48 hours or so, the ground might start shaking, flaming objects might zoom from the heavens, or the undead might rise from their dirt naps and turn the populace into a gigantic brain buffet. While you shouldn’t take our word for it (or the soothsaying of either long-deceased Mayans or wackadoodle preppers), it wouldn’t hurt to hedge your bets and spend Friday, December 21, raging like it’s your last night on Earth. Because, you know, it just might be.

Plenty of Armageddon-themed affairs are available to choose from, like the End of the World Party at Axis/Radius, 7340 East Indian Plaza in Scottsdale, which will feature the club’s DJ Soloman and his bro 40Ford dropping club bangers while existence as we know it possibly ends with a bang. And Doomsday couldn’t be a more fitting time to hang with the Friday night residents down at Sanctum, 4343 North Seventh Avenue, as they’ll be serving up gloomy tunes of a Goth, industrial, and synth bent during Black Mass: Apocalypse. Apollynon and Aeternum are scheduled to spin and the bar will offer drink specials, in case you’d like to ease the pain. The party starts at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Meanwhile, local DJ/drag artist Austin Head, who’s still recovering from the recent hate crime assault by a pair of hoodlums, is putting on a frenetic fiesta called The End of Days Cabaret at Crescent Ballroom, 308 North Second Avenue. The Mayan-inspired soiree will be hosted by “chief priestess” Barbara Seville, exotic and erotic performances from Scandalesque and Capoeira Brasil-Arizona, as well as a DJ set by A Dynamic Mechanism and maybe some “virgin sacrifices.” Doors are at 8 p.m. Admission is $20 to $40.
