More About

La Virgen de Guadalupe is an icon in Latino culture who's regarded for her role in religious practice and cultural pride. She inspires visual art, dance, poetry, performance, and music -- all forms of artwork from more than 20 artists that are on display in the show "Virgen de Guadalupe" at ALAC. According to ALAC, these artists have "broken the old rules for representing sacred figures in art, and created modern visions of the Virgin that will thrill gallery audiences." The exhibition includes performances by Olivia Calderon, Tradiciones Dance Company, Cesar Chavez Duran, Ballet Amistad, Dulce Juarez, and Efrain Robles.

Sat., Dec. 29, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., 2012
