With apologies to the Paul Oakenfolds and John Digweeds of the world, the realm of electronic dance music has become more a domain for the young in recent years. So much so that it if your average bedroom producer wunderkinds haven't conquered Beatport or Hypem with their remixes, inked a deal with Anjunabeats, or gigged at EDC by their 20th birthday, then their considered washed up or washed out. The fresh-faced youngsters who make up male/female DJ duo Candyland exemplify this sort of skyrocket to stardom, as their success over the past two years has shot them into the stratosphere of the EDM world. Since forming in April 2011, the Southern California-born team of Josie Martin and Ethan Davis and their audio experimentations with such genres as dubstep, drum 'n' bass, glitch, and electro-house have earned the duo plenty of attention, helped win two straight Beatport remix competitions (for reworking Bingo Players "Rattle" and Skrillex's "Make it Bun Dem"), and nabbed more than a millions plays on SoundCloud. Their debut, Bring the Rain, has been downloaded like mad since its January debut. Candyland fans can hear the act in person on Thursday, March 7, when they visit Monarch Theatre, 122 East Washington Street.
