Plane Sight

There’s nothing quite like a bird’s eye view. Before humans had the ability to see their own environment from an elevated perspective, we drew maps to the best of our ability, navigated tough terrain with little warning, and had a single perspective on the world around us.

The aerial view was introduced with the invention of the airplane in the early 20th century. And while the majority of people couldn’t afford to hop on a plane and see the world below them, many photographers were able to capture the unique imagery and share it around the world.
