Steve Aoki, Paul Oakenfold, Thomas Gold, and More This Weekend

So it's Memorial Day weekend, which equals three days and four nights devoted to rest, relaxation, and thoughtful reflection, right? Eff that, gramps. More like 72 hours filled with ragers, ravers, and ribald behavior, primarily for those in the coveted 21- to-35 age bracket who are more into EDM than AARP.

Practically all the bigwig dance music impresarios and promoters in the Phoenix area have festivities planned, like over at Maya Day and Nightclub, 7333 East Indian Plaza in Scottsdale.

Globetrotting German tech-house tastemaker Thomas Gold will induce major ripples in the beach club's pool with his swank sound waves during his performance on Friday, May 24. Gates open at 6 p.m. General admission is $15, VIP access is $60. Dim Mak's crown prince Steve Aoki, himself no stranger to upscale pool bashes (as he recently made his debut at Sin City's trendy Wet Republic) dives into Maya for an afternoon-long party, which commences at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 26. Get inside for $60 or get the VIP experience for $150. See www.sletickets.com for either event.

The superstars will come out at other Valley venues over the three-day vacay. The highly influential and obscenely talented trance/house deity Paul Oakenfold comes to Wild Knight, 4405 North Saddlebag Trail, at 9 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $15.

If you've still got energy, check out back-to-back Relentless Beach affairs at El Santo, 7301 East Butherus Drive in Scottsdale, featuring Sander van Doorn on Saturday, May 25, and Laidback Luke on Sunday. Both run from noon to 6 p.m. and have $23 admission. Visit www.relentlessbeats.com for the three latter gigs.
