Long before California became a tourist destination for Chardonnay-lovers, there was Rodney Strong, a Broadway dancer turned winemaker who helped transform the area into one of the world’s best winemaking regions. Travel to the Rodney Strong Vineyards in northern California and you can still taste his legacy today.
If you can’t get away, you can at least experience the wine on Thursday, July 25, when Bistro 24 hosts a Summer Wine Dinner complemented by the wines of Rodney Strong Vineyards. The four-course meal from the restaurant’s culinary team,, led by Executive Chef Stephen Toevs, will include a savory starter, summer salad, and pan-seared organic chicken. Each course will also be paired with a Rodney Strong wine, to include the 2012 Charlotte’s Home Estate Sauvignon Blanc – named after Strong’s wife – and the 2011 Chalk Hill Estate Chardonnay.
The Ritz-Carlton’s Summer Wine Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Bistro 24, 2401 East Camelback Road, and costs $65 per guest. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 602-952-2424. For more information, visit www.ritzcarlton.com.
