While recycling is a great way to help the environment, it’s hardly exciting. Yet there’s a lot more that can be done with recycled materials if you set your mind to it. Gain inspiration at the Musical Instrument Museum's Family Day featuring recycling-related events inspired by Paraguay’s Recycled Orchestra. Trolling the dumps of Cateura, Paraguay, this child orchestra creates instruments from trash and found treasures, converting them into the “Landfill Harmonic.” The orchestra uses pipes for flutes, packing crates for guitars, and turns oil drums into string instruments. Visitors can learn about recycling, create their own recycled instruments, see a display of recycled instruments, and hear the orchestra perform at 11:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. The café will feature Paraguayan food.
