Joe kvetches: "A federal judge recently ruled my office engaged in 'racial profiling,'" as the result of a lawsuit "filed by open-borders activists led by the ultra-liberal ACLU."

Arpaio states in the letter that he disagrees with Snow's ruling, but he will "abide by the decision until it is reversed by a higher court."

But that's merely an aside, allowing Arpaio some wiggle room if he's called on the remainder of the letter, in which he's defiant.

Joe's apologists would have you believe that because he's an elected official, he does not have to obey the U.S. Constitution and the federal judges who interpret it. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Dennis Gilman
Joe's apologists would have you believe that because he's an elected official, he does not have to obey the U.S. Constitution and the federal judges who interpret it. Nothing could be further from the truth.

"Ultimately, they want to have a 'federal monitor' in my office looking over my shoulder, making everything I do politically correct," Arpaio snarls at one point. "I was elected by the people, and I won't stand for it."

Well, if Snow appoints a monitor for the MCSO to be the judge's eyes and ears in the case, as he's already said he's inclined to do, Arpaio certainly will stand for it. He doesn't have much choice. He lost, remember?

"I will never back down — not even one inch — when it comes to doing the job I was elected to do," Arpaio says at another point in the letter.

Arpaio's slippery language aside, does this sound like a guy who will voluntarily comply with Snow's orders without being forced to?

Perhaps, as he did with own co-authored Joe's Law, the sheriff will deny ever having read the letter. No doubt Willems handles such matters for him, just as Arpaio conveniently delegates authority to his flunkies, so he retains deniability.

I can only hope Snow is as impatient with Arpaio's excuses and games as a lot of us are.

Both Casey and Arpaio's friends in the media are squirming, arguing that because Arpaio is an elected official, Snow cannot or should not appoint a monitor.

But elected officials have to accept monitors in civil rights cases all the time, and these officials often bitch and moan about it, whether it's Mayor Michael Bloomberg in New York, apoplectic over a judge reining in the New York Police Department's stop-and-frisk policy, or Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, outraged at the more than $8 million a court-appointed monitor for his city's police department will cost.

Like it or not, elected officials must obey the U.S. Constitution, from the president on down.

And if a majority of locals agrees with an elected official's unconstitutional practice, that's not a free pass. Rather it's an indicator that the electorate needs a remedial class in civics — which Snow should give Maricopa County very soon.

Obviously, the writer of this article Mr. Stephen Lemons has no intention of writing an article that represents fair and balanced journalism on this matter of illegal aliens in the U.S.

Sheriff Arpaio bashing will not change federal immigration law and how it's enforced.  Oh, you can play the "profiling" card all you want.

The illegals will never become U.S. citizens.

The U.S. House of Representatives has not let the "Pathway to Citizenship" bill passed in the Senate even come to the floor for a vote.  That because the U.S. already has a pathway to citizenship.

And it does not include sneaking across the border.  The mentality of "Oh. If I can live here illegally long enough and avoid detection, they'll think I'm a U.S. citizen by default."  will never work.

Some of you want to believe that.  Bueno suerte.

45 ENEMIES OF FREEDOM - Reason.com

http://reason.com/archives/2013/07/10/45-enemies-of-freedom/print

3. Sheriff Joe Arpaio

"Maricopa County, Arizona’s chief law enforcement officer is famous mostly for publicly degrading inmates: forcing them to live in a tent city, work on chain gangs, wear pink underwear. Meanwhile, his more serious transgressions receive far less attention. Arpaio has created citizen posses to track down and arrest illegal immigrants, overseen a jail staff that has violently abused inmates (resulting in the death of three prisoners and the paralysis of a fourth), and used law enforcement resources to harass and intimidate his political opponents."

18. Ed Jagels

"During the 1980s, Kern County (California) District Attorney Ed Jagels led the nation in prosecuting bogus Satanic child molestation cases. Without any physical evidence, Jagels, his prosecutors, and local police coached and cajoled children into accusing their parents and neighbors of sexual abuse that never actually happened. Years later, when witnesses recanted, Jagels called them liars. Eventually, 25 of his 26 Satanic molestation convictions were overturned."  ... watch "WITCH HUNT" award-winning documentary, the John Stoll story: http://witchhuntmovie.com

27. John McCain

"It is possible to be both an enemy of freedom and a genuine American hero. John McCain endured unbearable punishments and greatly boosted camp morale during his five-year Viet Cong prison stint, for which he deserves our gratitude. He has also been among the most consistently interventionist politicians in the United States Senate, agitating for never-ending “rogue-state rollback” while focusing his war at home on political speech and the healthy American trait he derides as “cynicism.” It’s fitting McCain would close out his career barking sporadic insults (like “wacko bird”) at a new generation of more libertarian legislators."

I think he wants a show-down with the Feds. He's gonna roll out his tank; the President will be forced to send in the troops; and racists everywhere will keep filling his coffers, while Maricopa County pays off all those civil judgments amounting to tens of millions of dollars. He's like a one-man Birmingham. On the other hand, PNT is obsessed with this greasy racist to the exclusion of all other stories. Maricopa County allowed a non-lawyer to play lawyer in death penalty cases during the Andrew Thomas death penalty case filing glut, and the AZ Supreme Court covered it up when I reported the grant fraud. Taxpayers have been paying a non-attorney an attorney salary for years. Small potatoes, I guess, compared to Joe; but these were death penalty cases. Hello, PNT?

Hannibal Lecter is a fictional character in a series of horror novels by Thomas Harris -- why would you include him in an article that you hope would be taken serious? It's not as if there aren't enough serial killers from the past to use. Do more research & avoid sensationalism. I'd respect the article more.

"Mike Byrd, MISSISSIPPI SHERIFF, INDICTED ON 31 CHARGES" By HOLBROOK MOHR 08/30/13 09:09 PM ET EDT

JACKSON, Miss. -- "A south Mississippi sheriff has been indicted on 31 counts, including charges accusing him of pushing an arrest in a murder case, even though a detective thought the suspect was innocent, and of snooping on employees at a restaurant that refused to accept a check from him.

The indictment against longtime Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd was dated Thursday and made public Friday. It charges him with using his office to retaliate against people he considered political and personal foes, including the police chief and a city alderman in Ocean Springs, one of the cities in Jackson County. The charges include fraud, extortion, embezzlement, witness tampering and perjury.

One of the charges said Byrd pressured a detective to sign a criminal affidavit and seek an arrest warrant against a man in a murder investigation in 2007 when the detective did not believe the man committed the crime. The indictment said Byrd was running for re-election at the time and wanted to be able to say there were no unsolved murders in the coastal Mississippi county of about 140,000 people.

An extortion charge in the indictment said Byrd pressured a female deputy to engage in sexual acts and threatened to give her a bad recommendation if she left his department.

Byrd's lawyer, Joe Sam Owen, did not immediately respond to a message left Friday at his office. A message left for the sheriff's chief deputy was not immediately returned.

District Attorney Tony Lawrence said in a written statement that Mississippi law prevents him from discussing the details of the case." ...

No one cares about the ugly appropriately named Lemons bore. Sheriff Joe gets more support every day. The 18% of self-identified US liberals according to 60 years polls are LOSERS and most couldn't get it up with a derrick. Mike Lacey flubbed it here in San Francisco and needs to wash his brown stained pink underpants.

Too bad that Judge Snow didn't keep an eye on the RACIST LOSER's minions, 'cause by now those shreders R probably working over time, since an AUDIT might B D next step. BTW, there's D posibility that officer"shut up" has been flying under D radar posting on this blog site.

The Monitor beign placed at MCSO is D toughest, so I heard, I hope he keeps the OLD FART in a short leash, giving him some wedgies, and make him clean his pigsty office, that ass smell is unbearable, since HILLFOLKREDNECK & THE OL' BITCH JAF  might have been living there.

So Arpaio has a monitor now and the Hispanic's along with their illegal brethren can rest easy. The raid on Dannys carwash by the feds did more harm to the illegal immigrant community then anything Arpaio has done. Take away their job opportunities and most of the problem is solved.

Good, since no one here is advocating that at all, no matter how much you attempt to spin the above article to say that, which it does not.

Nope, you are the only one wanting to believe something that is false like that.

MCSO / MCAO: One standard for the people, none for 'us", so the monitor should be a switch for those who do as they please. Kafka's letter describes how it works and probably the homes of those who "dominate" in our society...

FRANZ KAFKA
Letter to his father, 1919

"Because you, driven by your own predilection and sizeable appetite, ate everything fast, hot, and in large mouthfuls, the child had to hurry, gloomy silence reigned at the table, interrupted by admonitions: “First eat, then speak” or “Faster, faster, faster” or “Look, see, I finished ages ago.” We were not allowed to crunch bones, you were. We were not allowed to slurp vinegar, you were. The main thing was for the bread to be cut straight, but that you did so with a knife dripping with gravy was irrelevant. We had to take care not to let any scraps fall onto the floor; in the end they lay mostly under your seat. At the table we were to do nothing except eat, but you cleaned and trimmed your fingernails, sharpened pencils, dug in your ears with your toothpick. Please understand me correctly, Father, these would in themselves have been utterly insignificant details; they only came to depress me because they meant that you, a figure of such tremendous authority for me, did not yourself abide by the commandments you imposed. Hence there were for me three worlds, one where I lived, a slave under laws that had been invented solely for me and, moreover, with which I could never fully comply (I did not know why), then another world, infinitely distant from mine, in which you dwelt, busy with ruling, issuing orders and being angry when they were not obeyed, and finally, a third realm where everybody else lived happily, free from orders and obligation. I was forever in disgrace."
