Kick Back

It’s a minor miracle that Arizona still has a professional soccer team. The Phoenix FC Wolves’ 2013 was nothing short of disastrous. The club ended its season with10 players on roster, 500 fans in the seats, and tens of thousands of dollars in debt. It almost killed professional soccer in Arizona. The United Soccer League pulled the franchise rights, and it took an owner stepping in at the last minute to keep the club in the Valley. The early returns have been surprisingly positive.

The club, renamed Arizona United SC, will take on Charlotte Eagles on Saturday, May 3, at Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 North 83rd Avenue. The Eagles look like one of the stronger sides in USL Pro, and a win for United would be yet another minor miracle.
