When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So in celebration of our Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives.

Melinda Bergman was born in San Diego and moved to Phoenix after living in Sweden for 25 years.

Bergman is a staple in the local arts community. She's shown in galleries around the world and throughout metro Phoenix, including Modified Arts, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Regular Gallery and she's taught art at the college level for years. Bergman paints, sculpts, and combines materials for installations -- she says she works with anything she can get her hands on.

I make art because ... I love making things.

I'm most productive when ... I've had some breakfast and brushed my teeth.

My inspiration wall is ... a cupboard full of small shapes I like.

I've learned the most from ... time and my husband, Claes.

Good works should always ... erase the first four words in this sentence.

The Phoenix creative scene could use ... large scale, fully equipped, professional community art work spaces for different techniques and media.

The Creatives, so far ... (And while you're here, check out 100 Tastemakers on Chow Bella.)
