In preparation for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards (this Sunday, Feb. 27) and the booze-filled parties, we've come up with a few pairings of our own.

One cocktail for each best picture -- some known, some completely invented (the cocktails, that is). So sit down and grab some popcorn, or at least a tumbler, and get ready for one killer Oscar Party.

The King's Speech: Pimm's Cup Cocktail

1 shot Pimm's Cup

Ginger Ale or 7up

lemons, cucumbers

Add one shot of Pimm's Cup No. 1 to a tall glass filled with ice. Fill glass with ginger ale or a lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a slice of cucumber and a wedge of lemon.

(We liked it mixed with 7-Up better than with ginger ale.)

More Oscar Worthy drinks after the jump

Inception: Mind Eraser

1 shot Kahlua

The Mind Eraser

1 shot Vodka

Tonic Water

In a rocks glass, pour one shot of kahlua over ice. Layer in one shot of vodka. Carefully add the tonic water to preserve the layering effect. Serve with a straw.

(We were glad we waited until after the film to drink this.)

True Grit: Snakebite #4

We found out that depending on what region of the US you came of drinking age, there is probably a different definition of a Snakebite. For some it is a shot of Tequila with salt and lime. For others, it is a shot of whiskey with a squeeze of lime. And then there were the poor souls who knew it to be a cider/beer blend.

When we stumbled across the Snakebite #3 at DrinkMixer.com, we knew we were close. We added salt to the #3 to make the #4.

1 part Tequila

1 part Whiskey

hot sauce, salt, limes

Salt the rim of a shot glass and pour equal parts Tequila and Whiskey. Add a few good dashes of hot sauce, then drink.

(Be sure to suck that lime.)

Black Swan: The Black Swan Martini

1 shot Fernet

1 shot Vodka

2 shots Black Cherry Juice

Black Cherries, sugar

Place ice into martini glass to chill.

Muddle a couple black cherries with a teaspoon of sugar in the bottom of a martini shaker. Add ice, then pour in one shot of Fernet Liquor over and one shot of vodka. Measure in two shots of black cherry juice, put the lid on and shake. Dump the ice out of the martini glasses and sugar the rim. Strain into chilled martini glasses and garnish with a black cherry.

(We invented this one, ourselves)

The Fighter: Boilermaker

1 shot Whiskey

12 oz Beer

Drop a shot of whiskey into a glass of beer.

(Yep, K.O.)

Stayed tuned for Part 2 tomorrow ...
