3 Free Events in Metro Phoenix This Week
Some people say that it takes money to make money. We prefer the motto, "It takes nothing to spend nothing." With so many free events happening around the Valley, it's easy to stay busy while staying on a budget. From bike-based happy hours to football-themed fitness and explorations in early archaeology, here are our top three picks for free events in metro Phoenix.
Biketober Happy Hour Kick Off Ride
All throughout the month of October, Phoenix Spokes People will put the pedal to the metal with cycling-centered events. Kicking things off will be a special bike happy hour at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1. Bikers will meet at City Hall at 5:15 p.m. and travel the three and a half miles to Phoenix Public Market Cafe, where they will be greeted with free chips and salsa as well as extended happy hour specials. As an added bonus, the Phoenix Police Department will be on site registering bikes to protect against loss or theft. For details and to RSVP, visit the event on Facebook.
Early Archaeology of Pueblo Grande
Indulge your inner Indiana Jones and head on over to the Pueblo Grande Museum for a special lecture on uncovering history. This free and public lecture scheduled from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, will feature Todd Bostwick of PaleoWest Archaeology and Verde Valley Archaeology Center, as he discuss the early excavation of the Pueblo Grande.
