But way ahead of the wave of storytelling nights and readings was The Moth, a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 that’s all about sharing hilarious and heart-wrenching true stories. David Crabb hosts a traveling iteration of the event at Mesa Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, featuring Cheech Marin, Annabelle Gurwitch, Jessica Lee Williamson, and Bobby Wilson. WWE Smackdown
Back To The Future Day just passed and consarn it, you still don’t have self-lacing sneakers. You can quell your aspiring time-traveler tears by catching the bold-talking grapplers of WWE SmackDown on Tuesday, October 27. The sports entertainment spectacle will be filmed and then aired two nights later, giving you time to play Nostradamus. WWE champ Seth Rollins is slated to attend, Scottsdale-born former Divas champion Nikki Bella and her custom Air Jordans are likely to show up, and we’ll be crossing our fingers for an appearance by the prowler-fighting Valley resident and underdog hero Daniel Bryan.

With the slow realization toward legalization, marijuana likely is the next big cash cow for corporate America. Such a transition starts with an expo: the Southwest Cannabis Conference and Expo, which comes to the Phoenix Convention Center.

Topics include “cannabis stocks and wealth management,” “building a national brand in a competitive marketplace,” and an “industry overview and regulatory forecast,” with words from Congressman Ruben Gallego. Oh, late Romantic ballet. Do any of you guys feature people-people? The beloved masterpieces of the dance are filled with swans, nutcrackers (sub-species: mice, fairies, flowers, snowflakes, etc.), amorous ghosts, and, in the case of Coppélia, life-size mechanical dolls. Ballet Arizona, performing with the Phoenix Symphony, must deal with the plot twist introduced by spunky maiden Swanhilda, who, apparently noticing that the ballet is teetering precariously close to having human beings in it, disguises herself as the doll.
