Day of Our Lives Book-Signing
Watch out for fan apoplexy at the Days of Our Lives: 50 Years book-signing event at Changing Hands Tempe. It’s not just a soap opera; it’s a fiercely beloved soap opera that’s been on since 1965. The lovely commemorative book ($34.99) gets you and a pal into the event, where eight stars are scheduled to appear, including cleft-chinned hunk Greg Vaughan, who plays the current Eric Brady, cutie-pie Meredith Scott Lynn (Anne Milbauer), and Susan Hayes (Julie Williams), who has appeared in all six decades of DOOL. The madness begins 7 p.m. Monday, October 26, but you should probably show up early. Go to www.changinghands.com/daysofourlives for more details or to pre-order your book, or call 480-730-0205 The bookstore’s at 6428 South McClintock Drive in Tempe. Julie Peterson

The Moth
To the joy of narcissists everywhere, talking about yourself in front of people on a stage is incredibly on trend. But way ahead of the wave of storytelling nights and readings was The Moth, a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 that’s all about sharing hilarious and heart-wrenching true stories. David Crabb hosts a traveling iteration of the event at Mesa Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, featuring Cheech Marin, Annabelle Gurwitch, Jessica Lee Williamson, and Bobby Wilson. Tickets are $35 to $45. See details at www.mesaartscenter.com. Becky Bartkowski

WWE Smackdown
Back To The Future Day just passed and consarn it, you still don’t have self-lacing sneakers. You can quell your aspiring time-traveler tears by catching the bold-talking grapplers of WWE SmackDown on Tuesday, October 27. The sports entertainment spectacle will be filmed and then aired two nights later, giving you time to play Nostradamus. WWE champ Seth Rollins is slated to attend, Scottsdale-born former Divas champion Nikki Bella and her custom Air Jordans are likely to show up, and we’ll be crossing our fingers for an appearance by the prowler-fighting Valley resident and underdog hero Daniel Bryan.

WWE SmackDown is at Talking Stick Resort Arena, 201 East Jefferson Street, and doors open at 7 p.m. Admission ranges from $20 to $150. To purchase tickets or for more details, visit www.wwe.com. Jose Gonzalez

Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo
With the slow realization toward legalization, marijuana likely is the next big cash cow for corporate America. Such a transition starts with an expo: the Southwest Cannabis Conference and Expo, which comes to the Phoenix Convention Center.

Topics include “cannabis stocks and wealth management,” “building a national brand in a competitive marketplace,” and an “industry overview and regulatory forecast,” with words from Congressman Ruben Gallego. Keynote speakers include Bruce Barcott, author of “Weed the People,” Tripp Keber, CEO of Dixie Brands, Inc., and Jessica Billingsley, COO of MJ Freeway Business Solutions.

Cannabis conference convenes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, at 100 North Third Street and continues on Wednesday, October 28. Tickets range from $50 to $100. Visit www.swccexpo.com for full event details and to purchase passes. Janessa Hilliard

Coppélia
Oh, late Romantic ballet. Do any of you guys feature people-people? The beloved masterpieces of the dance are filled with swans, nutcrackers (sub-species: mice, fairies, flowers, snowflakes, etc.), amorous ghosts, and, in the case of Coppélia, life-size mechanical dolls. Ballet Arizona, performing with the Phoenix Symphony, must deal with the plot twist introduced by spunky maiden Swanhilda, who, apparently noticing that the ballet is teetering precariously close to having human beings in it, disguises herself as the doll.

Okay, we admit that this kinky turn has us raring to go, so we’ll call 602-381-1096 or visit www.balletaz.org for tickets, $25 to $159, to the show on Thursday, October 29, at 7 p.m. Performances continue through Sunday, November 1, at Symphony Hall, 75 North Second Street. Julie Peterson
