Arizona Sidewinders Dance Team Prep Classes Start October 10; Auditions in January
Dancers and cheerleaders interested in rooting for a Phoenix team with a winning record ought to know that auditions for the Arizona Rattlers dance team, the Arizona Sidewinders, are just around the corner.
But don't worry, because there's still time to get ready. This week, the team will host the first of three prep classes to get hopeful ladies ready for the big day.
Arizona Sidewinders prep classes will be held on:
- Thursday, October 10
- Wednesday, October 16
- Thursday, October 24
Each of the prep classes will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Gold's Gym in Peoria. Dancers will have the opportunity to learn a game-style routine and hear insider tips about the audition process from The Sidewinders' dance team director Angie Baker. The class will include a warm up, routine choreography and sideline choreography, and will cover conditioning as well as dance technique.
Last season the Sidewinders were named the 2013 Arena Football League Dance Team of the Year, thanks to popular routines including their Father's Day routine (during which dancers performed with their fathers) and the Player's Routine, which featured Rattlers players (video below -- it's pretty awesome).
Dancers must be 17 or older to participate in prep classes, and those under 18 years of age will need to have parent present to sign a waiver. Classes are open to anyone interested in being part of the 2014 Arizona Rattlers Sidewinders Dance Team. Participants will need to bring $20 (cash only), sign a Rattlers release waiver, and present valid photo identification.
Registration will be open from 7 to 7:30 p.m. before the class starts. Athletic clothes and non-marking shoes are required and previous dance/cheerleading experience is necessary. Auditions for the 2014 team will be held in January. Stay tuned to the Arizona Rattlers Twitter for more information.
