With Arizona teachers on strike, you may be looking for creative things to do outside the classroom.

It's a good time to visit Valley museums. Some are always free, and others are offering free admission on certain days during #RedforEd-related school closures.

Here's a rundown of museums with free admission on the second day of the strike Friday, April 27. Restrictions are noted where they apply, and we've also included museums where admission is always free. We'll update this post if the strike continues, and more museums respond.

Phoenix Art Museum

More than a dozen exhibitions are on view, including one inspired by fashion and technology. Phoenix Art Museum will offer free admission for children younger than 18 on Friday, April 27. Adult admission is pay-what-you-can that day, and there is no special exhibition fee for "Iris Van Herpen: Transforming Fashion." Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Typically admission is $18 for adults, $13 for students, and $9 for children ages 6 to 17. Admission is regularly free on Wednesdays from 3 to 9 p.m., First Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., and the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art

Three exhibitions are currently on view, including one featuring art by three generations of Inuit women. On Friday, April 27, SMoCA will offer free admission to parents, grandparents, and guardians who visit the museum with students.

Regular admission is $10 for adults and $7 for students. Admission is always free for patrons age 15 or under — as well as on Thursdays and after 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Friday hours are noon to 9 p.m.

ASU Art Museum

Three exhibitions are now on view at the Tempe museum, including one featuring the arts and crafts of Jalisco, Mexico. Admission is always free. Hours on Fridays are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Three exhibitions, including two featuring Phoenix-based artists, are on view now. Museum admission is always free. Hours on Fridays are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
