Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff Is Coming to Phoenix Comicon 2015
Katee Sackhoff as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace from Battlestar Galactica.
If you happen to be a die-hard fan of Battlestar Galactica -- well, the phenomenally popular 2004 reimagining of the classic sci-fi television series, that is -- and live in Arizona, its safe to say you're anxiously counting the hours until Memorial Day weekend rolls around.
That's no frakkin' hyperbole, since that's the date of this year's Phoenix Comicon and the weekend you'll get to meet a few of the stars of the Battlestar Galactica revivial. And, as of this morning, that will include actress Katee Sackhoff.
Comicon's staff announced this morning online that the actress who wasted scores of Cylons on the show as Viper pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace will appear at a special guest at this year's event, which is scheduled to take place from Thursday, May 27, to Sunday, May 31, at the Phoenix Convention Center.
Organizers had previously announced that Sackhoff's fellow Battlestar cast-members Mary McDonnell, who played President Laura Roslin, and noted character actor Edward James Olmos (a.k.a. Admiral William Adama) will also appear at Phoenix Comicon 2015.
For those who aren't particularly familiair with the critically lauded BSG revival that aired from 2005 until 2009 on cable channel now known as Syfy, Thrace was one of the show's more prominent -- and complex -- characters. An outspoken and rebelious hellraiser who oftern butted heads with other characters when she wasn't serving as a badass pilot of the show's trademark Viper starfighters (who Sackhoff stated was "the best pilot...EVER"), Thrace was quite the fearless warrior. Hell, she even faced down the grim reaper and (spoiler alert) returned from the dead after getting offed
Although no details concerning any potential Q&A sessions with Thrace or her BSG co-stars has been revealed by Comicon organizers as of this writing, its almost certain that all three will team up for a panel devoted to the show.
Sackhoff's appearance is just the latest of a series of big guest announcements that the Phoenix Comicon staff has been making recently during the buildup to this year's event. Over the last few weeks, for instance, they've announced such names as Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd and veteran character actor Ron Perlman will be at the 'Con.
Hope you've got some cash tucked away to get autographs or photos with each of 'em. If not, better start saving now.
Phoenix Comicon 2015 will take place from Thursday, May 28, to Sunday, May 31, at the Phoenix Convention Center. Admission is currently $15 to $40 for daily access and $70 for a full event pass.
