If the third annual Ameri-Can Canned Craft Beer Festival has one goal, it’s to debunk the myth that canned beer doesn’t taste good. Brewer Gabe Wilson of San Tan Brewing, host of this year’s festival, tells it like it is: “There are still those out there who have negative perceptions of canned beer. Yet I think that the majority of craft beer drinkers are able to overcome their prior perceptions of canned beer (built on years of cans containing exclusively fizzy yellow beers) and realize that it was not the cans … but the beer the cans contained.”
The tasty truth that the microbrew revolution is shifting away from the bottle and into the can is clear. The festival, which occurs during American Craft Beer Week, features more than 150 local and national craft brews available for sampling. Live entertainment, beer Olympics, and awesome food fill out the day.
