Paper or plastic? All summer long, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is investigating the art of the grocery aisles with collected works from contemporary artists as well as special events including the screening of the film Ready, Set, Bag.
This award-winning documentary follows an eclectic group of state champions from all over the U.S. as they work their way to winning the National Grocers Association's Best Bagger Competition. An in-depth look at the American working class and its values, Ready, Set, Bag tells the stories of eight individuals, who are united by their position at the check-out lane and the sincerity with which they perform their job.
No Festival Required presents the Ready, Set, Bag screening in conjunction with the museum's exhibition “Stocked: Contemporary Art from the Grocery Aisles." See both at 7374 East Second Street. Tickets for the Thursday, August 8, screening are $7, and doors open at 7 p.m. Call 480-874-4666 or visit www.smoca.org.
