A national group is ditching the greeting-card cheese of Valentine's Day and is instead tying the "holiday" together with historical preservation.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is currently accepting entries for its "Most Romantic Main Street" photography contest.
According to the Washington, D.C.-based non-profit, photographed sites can include "candle-lit restaurants, unique wedding destinations, charming streets for strolls, intimate wine-tasting rooms, quaint B&Bs, [and] special historic spots."
Winners will score a gift membership in the National Trust for Historic Preservation group.
On the local tip: Main Street in Mesa immediately comes to mind in terms of a charming street for a lovely saunter with your boo. However, other centralized districts, such as Old Town Scottsdale, can definitely apply -- depending on your angle.
Use your imagination and submit five images by February 4. More details can be found here.
