Extreme shallow snorkeling is actually a sport/recreation/joke practiced by the one (and perhaps only) shallow snorkeling team out of called Les Fruits de Mer.
The Fruits, who dress up in Zissou-esque red caps and blue, button-up dress shirts, write the sport was founded 2006 in the Nusa Dua area of Bali in a large pool of water, 6-inches deep. Since, the team has traveled to, and documented life forms in, the shallow waters of Bermuda, St. Martin, and Honduras.
You can stay tuned to the Fruits de Mer website for updates, specie documentation, and future travels. And in the meantime, let us know what you find lurking below that sprinkler head.
