The wide-open, flat, dead desert regions that surround Phoenix are no sight for sore eyes. The landscape looks like a brush fire waiting to happen more than anything. A lot of the state is quite gorgeous though, and areas such as Sedona, Bisbee, and the Grand Canyon have breathtaking beauty. The desert comes to life through sporadic patches of green that hides wildlife including lizards and javelinas. And, in our humble opinion, we have the best sunsets in the country. Sky Harbor Airport celebrates desert beauty with “Birds, Blooms and Bugs,” an art exhibition in terminals two and three that celebrates the flora and fauna of 22 cities around the state. The show features paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and more depicting the beauty of the desert.
