Keridwen Cornelius Promoted to Editor-in-Chief of PHOENIX Magazine

This month might be the last time you read a note from local journalist Ashlea Deahl near the PHOENIX Magazine masthead -- the former editor-in-chief left the publication in September and penned her last "letter from the editor."

Keridwen Cornelius, who served as the magazine's managing editor, has been promoted to editor-in-chief.

The local monthly has been around for more than 40 years and is known for staple issues that rate the Valley's top doctors and neighborhoods in the valley, as well as local lifestyle and travel features.

Cornelius was associate editor from January 2009 to July 2011 and served as managing editor for three months before landing the leading gig.

She's also been published in National Geographic Adventure, Gastronomica, and New York Times science and travel sections, and Arizona Highways (where she was an intern before her move to PHOENIX Magazine). She and Deahl both attended the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU.

Deahl offered no comments on her departure and Cornelius did not return any of our phone calls.
