Attention short film enthusiasts: there's a new film festival coming to town dedicated to showcasing local filmmakers.

The Long Shadow Film Festival is currently seeking submissions of short films and videos of all genres (narratives, documentary, experimental), and is especially interested in the work of Arizona artists.

If you are a local, native, or even an expatriate Arizonan filmmaker, you can submit your short films and videos for special screening consideration.

Short films are unified mainly by what they aren't -- they aren't feature films. They get to be something else. And therein lies their power. They can cut to the chase, or never bother to get to the chase. And that what makes them dynamic to watch and a great way to discover local filmmaking talents.

The Long Shadow Film Festival will run from Nov. 19 to 21, 2011 at FilmBar in downtown Phoenix, (815 N. Second Street), with a launch party at 6 p.m., and the first screening at 8 p.m..

Submissions are being accepted now through November 1, and cash prizes of up to $1,000 will be awarded for the first place winner.
