Okay, so Phoenix doesnt get snow. Boo-hoo. Who wants it anyway? Having to trudge through frozen water is not glamorous, pretty, or convenient. So get over it already.
Instead, we make our own traditions like luminarias. A desert path lined with the flickering glow from humble paper bags is just as gorgeous as a snow-dusted lawn. And, guess what? We don't have to shovel luminarias to get to our car.
And we win on Saturday, December 18, when a local park offers an evening hike on trails decorated with the beautiful southwest holiday tradition.
If youre a west-sider, head to the Pre Holiday Luminaria Walk at White Tank Mountains Regional Park, 13025 North White Tank Mountain Road in Waddell, where youll catch the same set-up from 7 to 9 p.m.
