You go outside and find your answer: that stupid full moon is the reason people are telling you to take a hike. Sigh. Well, there’s no use fighting nature, so you decide to take their words literally and participate in one of the Full Moon Hikes that the Maricopa County Parks system has scheduled.

Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area, 44000 North Spur Cross Road in Cave Creek, will start its jaunt at 7 p.m. with ranger Kevin Smith leading the troops through the moonlit desert. For y’all on the east side, meet up at 7 at San Tan Mountain Regional Park, 6533 West Phillips Road in Queen Creek, where a ranger will take folks on a 2.2-mile saunter. Lastly, Usery Mountain Regional Park, 3939 North Usery Pass Road in Mesa, will offer guided and self-guided hikes at 7:30 that culminates with a campfire.

Sat., Jan. 30, 7 & 7:30 p.m., 2010
