Seriously Wacky

He created a pogo stick that disco dances, takes photos of his friends being thrown into the air (ouch!), and broke a Greek sculpture in the name of art. Wacky L.A. artist Martin Kersels discusses the strange and sordid history of his work in a gallery talk and “Lecture Musicale” held in conjunction with the exhibit “Seriously Funny.” Expect the unexpected, as Kersels plans to use “everything but the kitchen sink” – music, tripped-out slideshows, interpretive dance – to explain his newest piece, Headache, a 10-foot-tall drum pedal that mimics a bobbing ship. “I want people to laugh at what I do, but then also cry,” says Kersels. ”I want it all."
