We hadnt seen a portraiture group show that knocked our socks off for a long time. We hadnt, that is, until we checked out The Portrait exhibit, which features works of a different breed entirely. Local photographer, eye lounge art-collective member, and show curator Lindsay Palmer gathered works by many accomplished local artists, such as painters Michael Dixon and fellow eye lounger Chris Santa Maria, shutterbug Tracy Longley-Cook, and five15 member Allison Wear, whose photographic portraiture work in this show is devoid of actual people. The result is an exciting, varied exhibit that doesnt fall into the (yawn) boring category.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: May 20. Continues through June 18, 2008
