Forty years ago this month, the not-yet-miraculous Mets languished 10 games behind the Chicago Cubs in the National League East before overtaking the kamikaze Cubs and, eventually, winning the World Series. Dont expect anything quite so stupefying unless its in the bad way when a much more run-of-the-mill version of the New York Mets visits the just-plain-inept Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game set.
