StoryCorps Teams Up with Radio Campesina Phoenix to Record Community Stories in March
All you'll need to get into the StoryCorps Airstream trailer this March is a friend and a few questions.
When StoryCorps announced it was returning to Phoenix last month to record stories from community members, reservations were full within an hour of opening. But good news arrives this week from local station 88.3FM-KNAI Radio Campesina Phoenix . . .

This March, StoryCorps will partner with Radio Campesina, Phoenix's heritage Mexican Regional radio station operated by the Cesar Chavez Foundation, to record more stories and air a collection of interviews recorded for the StoryCorps project.
StoryCorps was founded in 2003 by documentary producer Dave Isay, whose goal was to create an audible portrait of American people. The nonprofit currently boasts one of the largest collections of American voices from more than 60,000 Americans nationwide.
The partnership welcomes community members from all backgrounds and beliefs to record interviews in the MobileBooth, parked in front of Phoenix Art Museum from March 10 though 23. Each 40-minute interview aims to engage two people who know and care about each other, with the help of a StoryCorps facilitator. When each interview is over, participants receive a CD copy of their conversation and, with permission, a second copy is sent to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
According to Radio Campesina's Victor Gamiz, segments of select interviews may also air nationally on NPR's Morning Edition. Reservations can be made by calling Radio Campesina at 602-269-3121 or via e-mail at Lacampesina883@chavezfoundation.org. Suggested donation is $25.
