Here they are, weekend warrior, your best bets for a good time out and about over the next few days.
Ballet Arizona Presents Director's Choice @ Orpheum Theatre From comedic timing to sentence construction and artwork, the rule of three/thirds makes works more satisfying to audiences, readers, and viewers. (See what we did there?) Provided the notion holds true, those attending Ballet Arizona's Director's Choice are in for an entirely enjoyable evening.
The program runs through Sunday, March 31, and features the works of three esteemed choreographers: Ballet Arizona creative director Ib Andersen's Diversions, American Ballet Theatre artist in residence Alexei Ratmansky's Le Carnival des Animaux, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo's Untitled.
Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Orpheum Theatre. See www.ticketmaster.com or call Ballet Arizona's box office at 602-381-1096 for tickets, $24.50 and up.
"Dude Ranch" @ Gallery 100 Look. If the title "Dude Ranch" doesn't already have you sold on this BFA group sculpture exhibition, we're officially wary of you, partner. Boasting "excessive bravado," the show collects works from ASU students artists Roy Cardenas, Sutton Demlong, Andrew Dunn, Nathan Haney, and Sanford Worth. "Although showing in vastly different aesthetics, each artist brings a cohesive and dynamic unity to the gallery bringing a lighter more humorous side of male chauvinism," exhibition organizers note. Check out the chaps-optional free exhibition from noon to 3 p.m Friday, March 29, at Gallery 100.
