Spring Opening Reception @ ASU Art Museum
On Friday, ASUAM celebrates the recent opening of four spring exhibits, including Gregory Sale's "It's Not Just Black and White," at its digs at 51 East 10th Street in Tempe. Here's an added bonus: Angela Ellsworth's Where the Skies Are Blue performance will take place during the shebang. Reception hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Go here for details. GROWop Air Conditioning Fundraiser
The community garden and art collective refuses to sweat out another summer in its space at 902 North 6th Street, so they're throwing a fundraiser that's disguised as a party, complete with a keg, bonfire, and live entertainment. Important note: The Saturday shindig isn't taking place at the GROWop house, but rather at 747 North 12th Avenue from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Details can be found here.
SHAKE! The 6-Year Anniversary Party @ The Rogue Bar
This edition of the "mother fucking rock 'n' roll dance party" acts as a birthday bash to commemorate six years of hipster booty shaking. And with Denny Le Nimh, William Fucking Reed, Kevin The Makeout Bandit, and more in the house on Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., the party will be nothing to shake a stick at. Raven's 4th Annual Little Black Dress Night @ Cream Stereo Lounge
DJ Circle spins tunes during this Saturday soiree that showcases, well, a little black dress theme. Guests can hit up a free appetizer buffet from 7 to 9 p.m. before taking in the "sensational little black dress contest" at 10 p.m. The scene is Cream Stereo Lounge, 4252 North Drinkwater Boulevard in Scottsdale. Free Store Fashion Show @ Phoenix Free Store/Conspire
The Phoenix Free Store, located in the dirt area behind Conspire, 901 North 5th Street, is hosting a "Throw Down Show Down" fashion extravaganza that will showcase men and women modeling threads designed from recycled and repurposed materials.
