In the NBA, starting the season cold usually isn’t a big deal -- when the typical season lasts 82 games, a team can afford to crap the bed early. In this year’s strike-shortened season, however, a bad beginning can end a team’s season.
Because of their rough start, the Phoenix Suns find themselves in the unusual position of facing a must-win game in a season that’s just a few weeks old. The Suns will face off against the New Jersey Nets -- another team that’s off to a slow start -- at US Airways Center on Friday, January 13. One team will leave with a win and some much-needed momentum; the other will have one foot in the grave.
